Sunday we celebrate Christ the King.  In contemporary Christianity, we understand the allusions to Christ as the King, but don’t know how to bring this into our everyday life.  We have no kings, and those we know about are more figureheads than powerful monarchs.  The prophecies that God would send a king to restore the kingdom of Israel inspired great hope in the people.  They looked forward to the fulfillment of this promise from one generation to the next. Jesus’ journey through the Old Testament to become King of Kings and Lord of Lords has some interesting twists and turns.  The King leaves us with three gifts to use.
